Assets Tree

The asset tree provides the user with an interface for using previously imported assets and general assets within the slide canvases. The tree is also the interface for editing and maintaining imported assets in the system as well as adding new general assets to the current canvas.

The default location for the asset tree is on the right hand side of the designer interface. It is usually found as a secondary tab beside the content tree (red arrow below). Like all panels in the workspace, its position can be moved or collapsed as needed.

Using Assets in the Asset Tree

To use an asset on a canvas, users simply click on the asset and then drag-and-drop it onto the slide canvas. Assets can be added multiple times to a given canvas as needed.

Text assets from the general assets category can each be customized and edited independently from all other text assets.

Under the general asset tree, a built in "stock assets" collection is available for both general asset usage and for the design of dynamic images and infographics (green arrow).

Adding New Assets

Assets can be imported using either the Assets button on the Home tab, or via the cog menu in the assets panel (blue arrow above). Click here for more.

Maintaining Imported Assets

Once assets have been imported into the system, they appear under the private or public domain. From here, users can simply right-click on an asset for these macro functions:

  • Copy - (and Paste) this function will duplicate an existing asset and place it into the virtual "clipboard". Users can then click on a destination (either the private or public root folders or sub-folders) and choose the "Paste" function to copy the asset.
  • Rename - this function will allow users to rename an asset
  • Delete - this function will allow users to remove an asset from the system.
  • Edit - this dialog is similar to the "Add Asset" dialog wizard presented when importing the asset. This dialog gives users the ability to edit and change an asset as needed.
  • Create Folder - adds a sub folder in the current folder tree (see below).
  • Set Roles - provides a dialog box for public assets where users can set role based access rights for the current asset.
  • Lineage - provides a dialog for showing the data lineage of the asset in the context of its usage in the system.
  • Manage Versions - provides a dialog for managing the different versions of a given asset.

NOTE: the EDIT, RENAME and DELETE functions may be limited to those professional users with WRITE access to public assets

NOTE: You cannot delete assets that are being currently used in other dashboards.

Adding Asset Folders

Sub-folders can be added to the asset trees in both the private and public content domains to help organize assets. Public folders can have role access set from the administrative console. Use the quick menu (blue arrow above) in the asset tree panel to add a sub-folder to the currently selected parent folder.
